Divina Color Has Specialty Colors

Divina Super Naturals and their uses:

1. 6.OSN, 7.OSN, 8.OSN, 9.OSN should be used to lift color from our line and other color lines.

2. We can expect 1 to 2 levels of lift.

3. If a client has a level 5 or higher and plans to change the color to a color two levels lighter(level 7) and doesn’t want to damage the hair we can use the Super Naturals. Always pick the Super Natural color one level lighter than our final desired shade.

4. EXAMPLE:

Client was a level 5 wants to be a level seven and has grey roots.

1. Apply a level 8.OSN mixed with equal parts with 30 volume and apply to previously colored hair. After 15 minutes the old color should have lift to a gold level seven. If their is a real build up of old color another application of the SuperNaturals is recommended. Their is no damage done to the hair using SuperNaturals. When the ends of the hair are lifted to a 7.3 you now have a built-in filler and can apply your 7AT to the roots for 30 minutes pulling the rest through the hair the last 10 minutes.

2. On previously colored hair with a level 5 or below 5 a bleach/shampoo/10 volume mix should be applied to those colored ends and hair lifted to at least to a level 6 and then the SuperNatural procedure can be done.

3. SuperNaturals are not to be used for Grey Coverage!!!

Divina 00 and it’s uses:

1. It is used as a ammonia type lifter giving a 1/2 level of extra lift when mixed with the Divina High Lifts

EXAMPLE:

2. Mix Super High Lifts on a level 6 or above to achieve 4 levels of lift(always counting level 6 as the first level) mix 1 ounce of the desired

SuperHigh Lift color with 1/2 ounce of 00 and 21/4ounces of 30 volume. The timing is 35 minutes on the roots or on a retouch. On a virgin application apply to the mid shaft first then roots and ends. Mixing ratio 1 part color to 11/2 parts developer.

EXAMPLE:

3. If your inventory was low and you needed a 8 but only had a 7 you could mix 1&1/2 ounces of 7 with a 1/2 ounce of 00 to make a tube of 8. Then mix equal parts color to developer and then color the hair.

Summer in the City pt. 2

Last time we looked at the ease and style of braids, today I’ll go over summer colors, in honor of the recent Summer Color Pop we had on June 12. The Color Pop was an advanced color class, spotlighting Divina Color, and was instructed by Christine Dillion.

When I say summer hair, what’s the first thing you think of? Highlights? Sun-kissed blond? Lighter shades? Well, I’ve been thinking about all that and more.

The first place I turn to D&A Beauty for their supply of Divina products. They have Super Blanc Polvo Azul (blue bleach powder) and Evyoxin (developer), both of which are the highest quality. This is the best developer I’ve ever used. I have extra sensitive skin so I usually get burned from regular developer, whether I’m using bleach or color. Evyoxin is different, it has soy collagen protein and wheat germ oil, so I may feel a tingle when using bleach, but it actually feels nice on my scalp when mixed with color.

If you are looking to lighten all of your hair, Divina also has a selection of Super HL (high lift) colors. I got to see them in action at the Color Pop, and I was impressed. The model started with dark chestnut, and when she was finished, she had a beautiful golden brown with highlights framing her face.

One of my favorite hair trends, which I think is perfect for summer, is pastel hair. It can be done as an all over color or highlights. Pastel hair is easily achievable using Divina’s Matiz (tints) on hair that has been bleached to a pale blonde.

Another and even easier way to add color to hair this summer is with extensions from NeoExtensions. They come in such a wide variety of colors and they have great fantasy colors, which are perfect for a fun pop of color. Using NeoExtensions for summer color highlights is a breeze, and they are reusable! They don’t damage the hair, there’s no heat or glue, they are made remy hair which is the highest quality hair, the ring that holds the extension in place is hypoallergenic, they are washable, and they are fast and easy to put in.

Finally! We can ditch the layers and hip scarves for flip flops and sunscreen! It’s late spring, leaning toward summer which means hot weather and sun beams. It’s also the time for updating your look, keeping your hair healthy and protected, or maybe your locks could use some repair and tlc.

Simple Style Updates

If you are looking for just a simple update to your look and not a major change, work with all the great hair you already have. I looked around the web and found some easy styles for a casual meet-up or even a fancy dinner.

Braids

It seems so basic that I think many of us overlook this versatile style. You can go for the straight forward braided ponytail, maybe the Pipi if you’re feeling brave, the classic french braid, or maybe you’re more into more of a boho vibe and like messy braids.

If you have longer hair, a side braid is an easy and elegant way you show off your face. In this picture, Nicole Kidman accentuates the braid with a long, layered, wavy bang. To achieve this look, use Smudge, from White Sands on your towel dried hair and dry. Don’t worry about your hair being perfectly straight, the beauty of this look is its softness. The Smudge will add texture and control frizz, without adding weight. Gather your hair into a low pony on the side and braid. Grab your rat tail comb and pull out some small pieces around your face for a soft and airy frame for your face.

A braid as headband is making its way back as a hair trend, and I’m glad to see it. This style works for almost any length of hair, is easy to do and has great results. Before braiding, I would recommend, especially with shorter hair, working Glaze Plus, from White Sands into damp hair, then braid and let dry. The Glaze Plus is flexible, while supporting hair, and is alcohol free so it won’t flake.

Here is a tutorial I found for Maiden Braids:

Steps 1-2: Braid two strands on each side of a center part.

Steps 3-5: Wrap braids around the crown of your head and pin in place with one pin each.

Step 6: Arrange braids so that they cover the front of your head like a headband. Pin into place more securely until you feel comfortable.

Steps 7-8: Pull the rest of the hair into a ponytail and pin it into a cute messy bun. Note: This step is optional. You can also wear your hair down like my photo below.

Step 9: Add final pins and spray. Enjoy!

Green and Gorgeous

Earlier today I went to a clothing swap hosted at Head Games salon, and it was a very eco-friendly way to increase my wardrobe. That got me thinking, what are some eco-friendly ideas for the fabulous salon workers and owners? Here are some suggestions to point you in the green direction, until your salon can run on hair clippings, of course.

Material Girl

Sustainable textiles have made big, fashionable strides more recently, and offer you an array of colors, prints, and textures. Looking for a simple way to update your salon’s look? How about organic cotton drapes and pillows? It’s true that cotton has a large carbon footprint, but organic cotton doesn’t use any pesticides, and the dye used on the fabric is not chemically treated. This means an overall reduction in chemical and toxin production, which is good for everyone. There are other sustainable fabrics out there too, like bamboo, which is anti-microbial, sustainable silk, hemp, recycled cotton, etc.

Vintage Beauty

Style withstands the sands of time and can be found at an antique shop or a flea market. You just need an idea or a theme, like rococo, art deco, or purple. I personally like ornate picture frames, picture-less, painted black, and grouped together, you could look for chandeliers, vintage serving trays, clocks, postcards (to put in a fancy, old frame), vintage posters, book ends, antique art, tables, lighting fixtures… The sky is the limit on vintage and antique items. Lighting the Way

There have been radical improvements in technology for CFL and LED lights, and they are still always getting better. One way to help shrink your shop’s carbon footprint is switch out any incandescent light bulbs, after they have burnt out of course, for the CFL bulbs. If you have a small area or something on your wall you want attention drawn to, try LEDs. Both types of lights use a fraction of the energy of an incandescent bulb, and both last many times longer.
